QUESTIONS

Including the ones that do not flatter us.

What is the best tool for finding local business leads?

It depends what you do with the list. Outscraper, Apify and Scrap.io are extraction tools, strong when you want raw data at volume and already have a process for filtering it. ZipLead is built for the step after that, scoring each business 0–99 on outreach readiness so the list arrives ranked. If the hard part is deciding who to call first, ranking matters more than raw volume.

Why does Apollo not work well for local businesses?

Apollo's database is organised around tech-company employees with LinkedIn profiles. Plumbers, salons and independent restaurants often have no real B2B identity, so they are thinly covered. Apollo is a strong tool aimed at a different buyer.

Is there a free way to find local business leads?

Yes. ZipLead's Scout plan is free and does not expire, with 5 searches and 3 enrichment credits a month. Outscraper has a free allowance on its first 500 places. Scrap.io offers a 7-day trial rather than a permanent free tier. Free tiers are the cheapest way to check whether a tool's data is any good in your own market before paying.

What does ZipLead not do well?

It is US-focused, so it is the wrong tool if you sell internationally. Scrap.io covers 195 countries and pulls from Apple and Bing Maps too. ZipLead also has a narrower data catalog than a general platform like Apify, and at very high volume the pay-as-you-go tools are cheaper per record.

What does ZipLead's enrichment actually return?

Contact emails read off the business's own site, ad detection, the software and hiring links on their pages, a real security certificate check, whether the site works at all, and Google's review count and rating. It does not return revenue figures, employee counts, years in business, or a reviews-per-month rate. Those numbers are usually estimates on other platforms, and estimates that look precise are worse than no number at all.
